Selenite is a crystallised form of gypsum — a calcium sulphate mineral that forms in evaporite deposits when saltwater seas slowly evaporate over geological timescales. Its name comes from the ancient Greek goddess Selene, goddess of the moon — a fitting tribute to its luminous, pearlescent white appearance and its long association with lunar energy, intuition, and divine light.
