Wicca & Pagan – Magic Wand – Lapis Lazuli with Silver Pentacle
The stone of pharaohs and the symbol of the Craft — a wand of truth, wisdom, and the sacred power of the five elements united.
Few combinations in the world of magical tools carry the depth and intentionality of this one. A 10-inch wand tipped with genuine lapis lazuli and bearing a silver pentacle — this is a wand that speaks to the heart of Wiccan practice. Lapis lazuli has been one of the most revered sacred stones in human history for over 6,000 years — the stone of Isis and Osiris in ancient Egypt, of the Sumerian goddess Inanna, of truth-seekers and wisdom-keepers across every culture. The silver pentacle is the most recognisable and central symbol in Wicca — the five-pointed star within a circle, representing the five elements (earth, air, fire, water, and spirit) held in perfect balance and unity. Together they create a wand that is equally suited to elemental work, truth-seeking, spiritual connection, and the kind of deep, grounded magical practice that comes from years of serious study and devotion.
Due to the natural origin of lapis lazuli, slight variations in colour, pyrite inclusion patterns, and formation may occur. Picture is an example only.
The pentacle is the most recognised and central symbol of Wicca and modern paganism — a five-pointed star (pentagram) enclosed within a circle. Each of the five points represents one of the five sacred elements, and the circle unites them, symbolising the infinite and the eternal cycle of existence.
- Earth (lower left point) — the element of stability, grounding, the physical body, nature, abundance, and the foundation of all material existence. Associated with the north, the colour green, the season of winter, and the tools of the pentacle and salt.
- Air (upper left point) — the element of the mind, communication, knowledge, clarity, inspiration, and the breath of life. Associated with the east, the colour yellow, the season of spring, and the tool of the wand or athame.
- Fire (upper right point) — the element of will, transformation, passion, courage, and the creative force. Associated with the south, the colour red, the season of summer, and the tool of the wand or sword.
- Water (lower right point) — the element of emotion, intuition, the unconscious, healing, love, and the fluidity of feeling. Associated with the west, the colour blue, the season of autumn, and the tool of the chalice.
- Spirit (top point) — the fifth and highest element — the divine, the soul, consciousness beyond matter, the unifying force that underlies and animates all other elements. The uppermost point of the pentagram points always toward spirit — upward, toward the divine.
The circle enclosing the star represents unity, wholeness, the eternal cycle, and the sacred space within which all magical work is contained and protected. In silver, the pentacle carries the additional resonance of the moon, intuition, and the divine feminine — amplifying the already powerful elemental symbolism of the star with lunar wisdom and reflective light.
A wand bearing the silver pentacle is a wand aligned with the totality of the Wiccan world view — all five elements in balance, held within the eternal circle, directed by the will and wisdom of the practitioner.
Lapis lazuli is one of the oldest and most deeply revered sacred stones in human history. Its deep blue, flecked with gold pyrite inclusions that mimic the night sky, has made it one of the most visually striking and symbolically rich materials known to ancient civilisations. Lapis lazuli has been mined in the Badakhshan region of Afghanistan for over 6,000 years — and has been found in burial sites across the ancient world, from Egypt and Mesopotamia to the Indus Valley. In ancient Egypt, it was used to make the blue pigment in the iconic headdress of Tutankhamun, ground into eyeshadow by Cleopatra, and carved into amulets of truth and justice worn by pharaohs. In Sumer, the goddess Inanna descended into the underworld wearing lapis lazuli jewels. In Renaissance Europe, the finest blue pigment — ultramarine — was made from ground lapis lazuli and was so expensive it was reserved for the most sacred subjects in religious painting, including the robes of the Virgin Mary.
- Truth & inner wisdom — lapis lazuli is above all the stone of truth — the courage to speak it, the clarity to see it, and the wisdom to know when it matters. In magical practice, it amplifies the practitioner's ability to perceive truth clearly, communicate it effectively, and work with it in ritual.
- Spiritual connection & higher consciousness — lapis activates the higher chakras and opens channels of communication with spirit guides, higher self, and divine wisdom. It is regarded as one of the most powerful stones for deepening meditation, prayer, and spiritual practice.
- Intuition & psychic awareness — deeply associated with the Third Eye, lapis sharpens intuitive perception and opens the inner eye to subtle energies, hidden patterns, and the deeper dimensions of reality.
- Communication & authentic expression — associated with the Throat Chakra, lapis supports the clear, confident, and authentic expression of truth — both in everyday life and in ritual, where the precise use of words, intention, and invocation is central to the work.
- Royal wisdom & sovereignty — across ancient traditions, lapis was the stone of kings, queens, priests, and initiates — those who held both power and responsibility, and were expected to rule and serve with wisdom. In magical practice, it supports the practitioner's development of inner authority and spiritual sovereignty.
- Protection — lapis has been used as a powerful protective amulet across Egyptian, Sumerian, and Mesopotamian traditions — worn to shield against the evil eye, psychic attack, and negative energies.
Lapis lazuli resonates primarily with the two chakras of the upper body associated with communication, intuition, and spiritual connection — making this wand particularly powerful for workings that involve truth-speaking, inner vision, and the direct connection to spiritual guidance.
Lapis lazuli's deepest and most celebrated association. It opens, activates, and energises the Third Eye — the chakra of intuition, inner vision, and the perception of truth beyond appearances. In magical practice, working with this wand directed at the Third Eye deepens psychic clarity, sharpens discernment, and opens the practitioner to the subtle information available in ritual, divination, and meditation.
Lapis strongly resonates with the Throat Chakra — the seat of authentic communication, truth-speaking, and the power of the word. In Wiccan practice, words are one of the most fundamental tools of magic — spells, invocations, declarations of intent. This wand amplifies the power and clarity of everything spoken in ritual.
The pentacle's Spirit point and lapis lazuli's resonance with divine wisdom together activate the Crown Chakra — opening the channel to higher consciousness, universal wisdom, and the divine guidance that informs the highest forms of magical practice.
The pentacle on this wand also creates a resonance through all five elemental correspondences — meaning it energetically touches every chakra in the system, making this a particularly complete and balanced tool for full-spectrum ritual work.
This wand is particularly well suited to elemental work, truth-seeking, communication magic, and any ritual that involves calling on the full power of the Wiccan cosmology. It is an excellent all-purpose Wiccan ritual wand for established practitioners.
This wand is particularly powerful on Wednesday (the day of Mercury, communication, and wisdom) and at dawn — the liminal moment when darkness and light meet, when truth and clarity are at their most accessible.
Cleansing methods
- Smoke cleansing — pass slowly through the smoke of white sage, frankincense, or cedar from handle to tip. Frankincense is particularly resonant with lapis lazuli's ancient sacred history and amplifies the cleansing beautifully.
- Moonlight — place under a full moon overnight. The silver pentacle resonates deeply with lunar energy, and the moon also aligns with lapis' associations with intuition and inner wisdom.
- Sound — singing bowl or bell vibrations cleanse the wand without physical contact — ideal for a decorated tool.
- Selenite — rest on a selenite charging plate overnight to clear and elevate energy. Selenite and lapis work well together.
- Avoid prolonged water exposure — lapis lazuli can be damaged by extended soaking or harsh cleansers. A very brief rinse is acceptable, but pat dry immediately.
- Avoid salt — salt can damage lapis lazuli's natural surface over time.
Consecration
Hold the wand in both hands and face east (the direction of air, wisdom, and the rising sun in most Wiccan traditions). Speak your dedication — your name, your tradition, your intention for this tool. Invoke the five elements in turn, asking each to bless the wand with its specific quality: earth for grounding, air for clarity, fire for will, water for feeling, and spirit for divine connection. Pass through incense smoke (frankincense or sandalwood are excellent choices for lapis) and candlelight. Seal by tracing a pentagram in the air with the tip.
- This wand is not a toy. Handle with intention and respect at all times.
- Lapis lazuli has a hardness of 5–6 on the Mohs scale — softer than quartz. Avoid knocking the tip against hard surfaces and store separately from harder gemstones.
- Keep away from prolonged sunlight — extended UV exposure can fade lapis lazuli's characteristic deep blue colour over time.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, perfumes, and lotions near the stone.
- Keep away from moisture and do not soak — the stone can be damaged by extended water exposure.
- Store wrapped in a soft cloth or in a dedicated wand pouch or box when not in use.
- Cleanse regularly — after every significant ritual use.
- Treat your wand as a sacred object — many practitioners keep it on their altar or in a dedicated space between workings.
